February 29, 2024 – Hilton, recently recognized as the #1 World’s Best Workplace by Fortune magazine and Great Place to Work, is set to dramatically expand its footprint in Saudi Arabia. During a visit led by President & CEO Chris Nassetta, the global hospitality giant confirmed its commitment to open over 60 new hotels in the Kingdom, aiming to quadruple its presence.
This strategic move by Hilton is anticipated to create nearly 10,000 jobs, aligning with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 objectives and its commitment to enhancing tourism infrastructure. The Kingdom aims to increase hotel rooms to 550,000 by 2030, contributing to the tourism recovery efforts with substantial investments.
H.E. Al Khateeb, Minister of Tourism, highlighted the collaboration with Hilton, stating, “This significant expansion underscores our dedication to enhancing Saudi Arabia’s tourism infrastructure, positioning the Kingdom as a prime opportunity for global investors.”
Chris Nassetta, President & CEO, Hilton, expressed enthusiasm about the Kingdom’s progress, stating, “We now have two-thirds of our pipeline under construction, working to quadruple our portfolio across the Kingdom – a true testament to the remarkable development vision led by the Kingdom’s leaders.”
During the visit, Hilton unveiled several key developments, including:
- Hotel Galleria Jeddah, Curio Collection by Hilton: Inspired by the Galleria Vittorio Emanuale II in Milan, this lifestyle property in Jeddah offers 363 stylish rooms and suites, diverse retail offerings, and spa facilities.
- Hampton by Hilton Sharma: Set to be the first Hampton by Hilton in Saudi Arabia, this property aims to provide guests with a seamless stay experience, located within 20 minutes of NEOM Bay Airport.
- Hilton Riyadh Olaya: Overlooking the capital, this hotel, expected to open in March 2024, will feature 239 contemporary guest rooms and suites, along with diverse dining options, a spa, indoor pool, and fitness center.
Hilton’s global development pipeline continues to grow, with the company having more rooms under construction than any other hotel company globally. The Kingdom remains a focal point in Hilton’s expansion strategy, with plans for additional brands like LXR Hotels & Resorts, Canopy by Hilton, and Embassy Suites by Hilton in the coming years.
The Ministry of Tourism’s investment of over $800 billion to transform the tourism landscape aligns with Hilton’s commitment to contributing to Saudi Arabia’s burgeoning tourism sector. As Hilton strengthens its presence in the Kingdom, it remains dedicated to creating job opportunities and building a strong workplace culture, with over half of its new hires expected to be Saudi nationals.
