In January 2024, Sanjay Sharma, the former Head of IT at Jumeirah Group, a global hotel chain, is set to take on the role of Chief Technology Officer (CTO) at Orascom Hotels Management. Orascom Hotels Management, a major player in the MENA region with over 8,000 guest rooms spanning Egypt, Oman, and the United Arab Emirates, as well as properties in Montenegro and Switzerland, holds a prominent position in the hotel ownership and operation business.
With a distinguished career spanning 27 years and a wealth of experience in various leadership roles in technology and business transformation, Sanjay Sharma brings a significant depth of industry knowledge to his new role. During his tenure as Head of IT at Jumeirah Group, Sanjay successfully spearheaded multiple digital transformation projects, introducing innovative digital platforms and implementing cutting-edge tools such as facial recognition for online check-in. Under his leadership, Jumeirah Group experienced a substantial increase in its online business volume.
Having spent over 20 years at Emirates Group in various senior positions, including Manager IT Innovation and Transformation Lead, Sanjay played a pivotal role in establishing labs at prestigious institutions such as Carnegie Mellon University in San Francisco, Oxford University in the United Kingdom, and Emirates’ Dubai headquarters. These endeavors led to the creation of new business models and the direction of the Emirates Group’s transformation office.
Sanjay Sharma has received recognition in the technology sector, including the Business Transformation 150 (BT150) Award from Constellation Research and being ranked among the top 10 CIOs in the Middle East by the IDC Excellence Award 2022.
In his new position at Orascom Hotels Management, Sanjay will be responsible for leading the organization’s technology innovation and digital transformation initiatives.
