InterContinental Abu Dhabi has announced the appointment of Dani Demerjian as general manager, marking his first permanent general manager position in the industry. Demerjian started his career with IHG – the operators of the InterContinental brand – and has worked for the company numerous times over the years.
Demerjian will undertake strategic responsibility as GM of InterContinental Abu Dhabi by overseeing all hotel activity, ensuring the hotel’s standards are exceeded and creating a welcoming community for guests, guaranteeing customer satisfaction across the property.
In 2000, he joined the InterContinental Phoenicia Beirut – IHG’s first InterContinental hotel in the region, opening in 1961. He started there as front office supervisor, moving up to front office duty manager – night manager in 2004. Staying with the brand, he joined InterContinental Dubai Festival City as front office assistant manager in 2007.
He later worked with InterContinental Kiev for half a decade, moving up to director of rooms, taking on operations during the absence of a general manager too. He then had stints with Ritz-Carlton in Kazakhstan and Bab Al Qasr Hotel before returning to InterContinental. In 2018, he was hotel manager and acting general manager for 12 months in Bangkok. His latest role in the UAE capital is his first time as a permanent general manager.
