Heritage is a symbol of the peoples’ own identity, and a symbol of the knowledge reached by previous generations, which have been passed down through the times until our time. Heritage is the civilization that lives in the memory of the grandchildren. Our country, Qatar, is rich in its history and distinctive heritage, which helped inspire generations. Local heritage is full of literature, values, customs, traditions, knowledge, fine arts and music, with all kinds of tangible and intangible elements, including architectural, natural, cultural and linguistic.

Artist Haifa says: I am attracted and inspired by the materials and tools that are used in our daily lives in my artworks, such as incense burners “mubhkar”, sprinklers, windows, doors and many more.

Recently, Haifa’s focus has been more on Qatari women’s clothing, jewelry and fabrics, with embroidery and engraving details in all these traditional clothing and jewelry because they were the source of inspiration in her modern works. This richness and diversity in the decorations and the colors of the fabrics inspired the artist and enriched her imagination in making models that have an extension of this beautiful heritage and presented them in a contemporary and innovative artistic style.

The audience can preview these details and meditate on the types of multi-colored decorations, which will lead the viewer, when contemplating and scrutinizing them, to a flash of old or childhood memory, in addition to the movement and ripples of the artwork that directly refer totraditional fabrics and cloths.
