Chef Manjunath Mural embarked on his culinary journey as a management trainee at Centaur Hotel, collaborating with esteemed chefs like Sanjeev Kapoor and Milind Sovani. Specializing in Indian cuisine, he eventually took the helm of the Northern Indian specialty restaurant.
His professional trajectory continued at Sahar Amby Valley, where he assumed the role of sous chef, and later at a retreat on Madh Island. In 2006, he achieved a significant milestone by fulfilling his dream of working for a multinational hotel group, joining Marriott Renaissance at Powai.
Mural’s international venture commenced in 2006 when he took on the role of sous chef in Singapore, contributing to the establishment of The Song of India as a renowned Indian restaurant. Under his leadership, the team earned accolades, including a bronze medal in a chef’s competition in 2006 and a gold medal in Gourmet Hunt Singapore 2007.
His career reached new heights when he secured the 2nd place in a reality TV chef competition in 2009. In 2011, Mural assumed the position of corporate chef for The Song of India group, where he introduced a new brand, Indian Express. His excellence was acknowledged through nominations for prestigious awards and participation in renowned events, earning him distinctions such as Chef of the Month in June 2012.
Chef Mural’s collaborations reached new heights when he co-hosted events with Michelin star chef Vikas Khanna in 2012. His prominent presence in culinary events, interviews, and cooking demonstrations earned him recognition from Buzzoop in 2014, placing him among India’s top 15 chefs.
In 2015, Chef Mural’s international acclaim grew as he served as a guest chef at Savour in Shanghai alongside Michelin star chefs. A significant milestone marked his career in 2016 when, as the Executive Chef for Song of India, he earned a prestigious Michelin star, making it the first Indian restaurant in Southeast Asia to receive such an honor. This success persisted in 2017 and 2018, with The Song of India securing Michelin stars for three consecutive years.
