Chennai, 13th August 2022- The Westin Chennai Velachery is pleased to announce the launch of Madras Week festivities at their restaurant, the Madras Kitchen Company, in collaboration with the renowned South Indian culinary ambassador, Rakesh Raghunathan.
The week-long food festival titled Madras Odyssey is being announced by The Westin Chennai Velachery (The Westin) to coincide with the MADRAS DAY celebrations which falls on August 22. As the city celebrates with heritage walks, talks, poetry, music and food, The Westin promises a unique food experience by exploring the variety of influences on the range and flavours in cuisines that have come to stay in Chennai.
At the tasting session organized for the Media, food historian, Rakesh Raghunathan stated, “The Madras Odyssey showcases and puts the culinary spotlight on the communities that are integral to Chennai. I have, in this menu curation, attempted to blend recipes and flavour combinations that give you the culinary history of Madras on a platter. The recipes are unique and have a story to tell.”
The Executive Chef at The Westin Madras Velachery, Mr. Biju Philiph stated, “The Madras Kitchen Company has always drawn the elite and discerning food enthusiasts of the city and this festival is yet another special offering to tickle their taste buds. It is only apt that we collaborated with the Food Raconteur and Historian, Rakesh Raghunathan, to curate the festival. The festival is expected to attract a huge audience as it promises a never before range of food experiences”.
The Madras Odyssey festival will be open to Public from August 19 to 31, from 6pm to 11 pm on all days, with a offer of a Thali or a la carte.

Rakesh Raghunathan is a South Indian culinary ambassador, whose vision is to showcase the rich heritage of the region to audiences across the world.
