Accor has a wide presence in the city of Chennai with seven hotels under three brands, namely: Novotel, Mercure and ibis. Teams from various hotels got together to organise a sports tournaments in order to enhance teamwork and camaraderie within the teams, as well as focus on wellbeing – physical and mental.
The first of the series was a badminton tournament where each hotel competed in different categories such as singles, doubles, and mixed doubles. Novotel ibis Chennai and ibis Chennai City Center won the coveted trophies in their respective leagues.
Recently, volleyball matches were conducted with a team of six members representing each hotel. The team displayed great enthusiasm and skill with the finals resulting in ibis Chennai SIPCOT winning the title and Novotel Chennai SIPCOT clinching the runners-up title.
The team members plan their day and schedule to ensure time for practice and new tournaments are already in the works!
Speaking on the occasion Mr. Rahul Nama – General Manager, Mercure Chennai Sriperumbudur who participated in the Badminton competition remarked– “ On behalf of all the Heartists in Chennai, we are delighted to participate in this nail biting championship. Every participant and onlooker as well as spectators and those who cheered us on, had a good time.”
Also Mr. Rayan Aranha, General Manager – Novotel ibis Chennai OMR and Novotel Chennai SPICOT mentioned – “We are thrilled to have Heartists (team members) from seven Accor hotels in Chennai competing for the prized Badminton and Volleyball championship. This is undoubtedly the first of many similar events that we intend to hold in the coming months. These events are critical in developing synergies within the team as well as help us unwind and come together as a team.”
