Signing ceremony of Memorandum of Understanding on partnership between Kalasalingam Academy of Research and Education & Courtyard by Marriott Chennai

10 June, 2022 – Kalasalingam Academy of Research and Education & Courtyard by Marriott Chennai have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to amplify the experience of hospitality education and training and also a step towards connecting the link between academe & industry.

Dr. Sridharan, Chancellor of KARE “I believe in quality and this union between Courtyard Chennai and KARE is the quality that I would want my students to experience. It is an important tie-up which will give our students a bright future, especially those from the rural parts giving them an ideal exposure with this internationally acclaimed organization; to work on their skill-set via trainings, learning techniques through real-life occurrences for a better insight to their careers’’.

With the goal of providing employment driven academic merits to those aspirant for a profession in the hospitality industry, the focal point of the hotel is not just bestowing practical knowledge but to polish students proficiently.

Kalasalingam Academy of Research and Education (Deemed to be University) was established as Arulmigu Kalasalingam engineering college in the year 1984 by Kalvivallal Thiru T. Kalasalingam, Founder & Chairman who was a freedom fighter and Philanthropist. Based on the academic and research performance, this institute obtained the status of deemed university in the year 2006, since then it strives to sustain the quality in education, research and all its activities which resulted 50th position among all university in India, under university category of NIRF 2021(National Institute of Ranking Framework),MHRD and 801-1000 under World University Ranking  by Times Higher Education(THE) and 601-800 under the Physical Sciences World University ranking by Times Higher Education(THE). Its accredited by NAAC with 3.11 CGPA in 4.0 Scale, “A” grade .Six engineering programmes are accredited by NBA and Eleven of our Engg & Technology Programmes are accredited by ABET.

KARE offers 15 UG and 15 PG programmes in Engg & Tech including agricultural engg and architectural engg, 18 UG and 10 PG programmes in Commerce Arts and Humanities, Advance science, Liberal arts and education and Ph.D programme in all the disciplines with total students strength of about 7000 and faculty strength of 540

It is the First institute to start engineering programmes for Speech and hearing impaired which was launched by then His Excellency Dr APJ Abdul Kalam. (2007)

About  220 faculty members are with Ph.D qualifications and International research centre established (some major equipment -Scanning Electron Microscope EVO18 (CARL ZEISS),Energy Dispersive X-ray-Spectrometer Quantax 200 with X Flash® 6130,X – ray diffractometer D8 Advance ECO, Fourier Transform Infrared Spectrophotometer IR Tracer 100, Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer AA 7000) by the institute plays a vital role in promoting the research culture among the faculty members and students in the campus which resulted more than 40 sponsored research projects worth of 14.5 Crore are ongoing from the Funding agencies such as DST, ICMR, DRDO, MSME, ATAL and four international research projects in collaboration with Poland, Norway, Malaysia and Thailand. and more than 2500 research findings of our faculty members and students are published in the Scopus indexed journals.
