Banana Island Resort Doha Welcomes Executive Chef Ziya Cikrikci

Banana Island Resort Doha is delighted to announce the appointment of Executive Chef Ziya Cikrikci, who brings with him over 24 years of international culinary expertise and a deep passion for creative, freshness-driven cuisine.

Chef Cikrikci now leads the resort’s talented culinary team across seven distinctive dining venues, including three signature restaurants and a collection of bespoke dining concepts. Known for his innovative storytelling through food, his philosophy blends modern craft with the soul of tradition—elevating seasonal ingredients into sensory dining experiences that celebrate both innovation and authenticity.

An Istanbul native, Chef Cikrikci graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Culinary Arts from the University of Izzet Baysal before beginning his career in some of the city’s most prestigious kitchens. His global journey has since spanned the US, Europe, Asia Pacific, the Middle East, and Turkey, with more than 15 years managing high-end restaurants and multi-outlet luxury operations.

He honed his craft at The Ritz-Carlton Miami and later at The Ritz-Carlton, Washington DC, where he was part of the opening team for Westend Bistro by Eric Ripert—a signature restaurant created by the celebrated three-Michelin-starred chef of Le Bernardin, New York. His career highlights include leading fine dining operations for Celebrity Cruises, founding the acclaimed Frankie Istanbul Restaurant, and serving as Executive Chef at prestigious properties including Hyatt Regency Istanbul Atakoy, Conrad Istanbul Bosphorus, and Hilton Cairo Grand Nile.

Renowned for his artistry and flair for presentation, Chef Cikrikci designs dishes around one carefully chosen seasonal ingredient, deconstructing its essence and pairing it with complementary flavors to create multisensory dining experiences.
