Marriott awarded ‘Top Employer in China’ for 10 consecutive years in a row
Marriott International has been recognized as a Top Employer 2021 in China by the Top Employers Institute. This is the 10th consecutive year that Marriott International has won the honor, which is a testament to the outstanding performance of Marriott International’s human resources team in China.
Established for more than three decades, Top Employers Institute is the global authority on recognizing excellence in People Practices, aiming to help accelerate these practices to enrich the world of work. The institute program certifies organizations based on the participation and results of their HR Best Practices Survey. This survey covers six HR domains consisting of 20 topics such as People Strategy, Work Environment, Talent Acquisition, Learning, Well-being, Diversity and Inclusion, and more.
Marriott International has long adhered to the “people first" philosophy to give back to the community and is committed to creating more job opportunities locally on its development journey. Presently, Marriott International operates more than 400 hotels in nearly 100 cities in China and has more than 80,000 associates in the Chinese market.
Marriott International has also launched a Careercare Cente (CCC) in China in 2020, a centralized portal with resources to help fill various associate positions. By the end of 2020, it has successfully filled more than 2,900 taskforce positions and completed 2,500 internal transfers to minimize the impact from the pandemic and help with their livelihood through close cooperation.
Shortly after the pandemic started, Marriott International also built a series of associates caring programs such as the #MarriottStrong platform to distribute the latest personal prevention measures and share various heart-warming stories for emotional support and reassurance. Pulling from Marriott International’s philosophy, the HR team worked closely with Business Council to arrange several voluntary activities such as proactively supporting the surgical mask manufacturing factory that needs human resources. The actions have shown the Marriott Internationals’ dedication and determination in terms of corporate social responsibility. These were also testaments to Marriott International’s commitment to the associates, to not only support their careers and personal lives, but also help them create more meaningful value.
Marriott International also launched mHUB, a modern secure human resources technology tool, which integrates employee training, performance evaluation, recruitment, and exploration plans. The tool would assist in fulfilling associates’ demands for their privacy and security desires. Meanwhile, it will also adapt to the ongoing system on innovations, help employees’ personal growth and career development, and provide open career opportunities.
In the future, Marriott International will continue to expand its business in the market with a strategic vision, strengthen the in-depth layout of its iconic brand portfolios, bring more job opportunities, and cultivate more hotel talent.
