HFTP Global Establishes Fundraiser for Covid-19 Relief in India

  • HFTP Global Establishes Fundraiser for Covid-19 Relief in India.

The international association is collaborating with its HFTP India members and HFTP Dubai Chapter to assist with medical equipment needs, overseeing a time-sensitive drive through May 31

Ready to take part in relief efforts to allay the heightened Covid-19 crisis in India, Hospitality Financial and Technology Professionals (HFTP® has organized a fundraiser to support organizations providing much-needed medical equipment to India.

HFTP Global is working in partnership with its HFTP India members and HFTP Dubai Chapter to encourage its network of hospitality professionals to donate to the HFTP Helps Covid-19 India Relief Drive. The aggregated donations will be distributed to vetted organizations working to supply equipment such as oxygen concentrators and ventilators. Due to the urgency of the situation, the fundraiser will run through May 31, wherein HFTP will quickly distribute the funds.

India, with the world's largest vaccine-making capacity, had donated or exported more than 66 million doses of vaccine before its own needs jumped because of the recent surge in infections. It is currently in dire need of oxygen and will soon need ventilators to meet the surge of critically ill patients.

"With this unfathomable crisis emerging in the region, it is critical to model the same kind of compassion India offered the world prior to the surge. This very much aligns with the tradition of Seva, the practice of selfless service," said HFTP Global Past President, Raman (R. P.) Rama, B. Com, CHA Emeritus, CHTP, CHAE, president and CTO/CIO of Sarona Hotels & Holdings. "Beyond its role as a professional organization supporting industry education and resources, HFTP has traditionally drawn from its network to support communities in need. Our 'hospitality' roots `inspire us to give."

HFTP has a growing network of members throughout India and the association is set to charter its first chapter in the country at the end of May. HFTP Dubai Chapter is also working to assist the India crisis as it prepares to host HITEC Dubai later this month.

"Our members have provided assistance during many disasters over the years" said Mark Pate, CHAE, CHTP, HFTP Global President, and IT Director of Highpointe Hotel Corporation. "Our members offer a connection for local educational and networking events, but we are also a global hospitality family."
