Marriott International appoints Jenni Benzaquen as Managing Director of Design Hotels, EMEA
Benzaquen has been with Marriott in senior roles for four years, previously with Starwood for over a decade
Marriott International has appointed Jenni Benzaquen as the SVP and Managing Director of Design Hotels and EMEA brand portfolio. During Marriott’s recent EMEA press conference, she shed some light on her new role.
“I’m incredibly excited to be leading Design Hotels at a time where the brand’s vision and mission could not be more relevant.
"For about 30 years now, Design Hotels has really led change in our industry, and today, it stands proudly at the forefront of the purposeful travel movement. The essence of purposeful travel is all about creating transformative experiences that positively change us and the world around us,” she said.
Design Hotels first launched in 1993 and in 2011 Starwood bought a 72 percent stake in the company. Marriott International, which acquired Starwood in 2016, took 100 percent ownership of the group in 2020. To date, there are more than 300 Design Hotels across the globe, including one in Dubai.
“Design Hotels’ guests are conscious and responsible and look for ways to enhance a destination. We will continue to remain focused on this evolving movement,” she added.
Including her time at Starwood, she has been in the Marriott family for more than 16 years, first as a brand communications manager for West Coast, W Hotels. She continued to rise the ranks of Starwood, later becoming the VP of brand management and marketing, luxury and lifestyle brands EMEA based in Belgium.
She stepped into Marriott in a similar role, leading brand management and marketing for The Ritz-Carlton, The Ritz-Carlton Reserve, Bulgari Hotels, St. Regis, W Hotels, EDITION, The Luxury Collection and JW Marriott brands across Europe. It was in 2020 she took on a multi-region role once again.
Speaking about some of the group’s plans in Dubai, she said: “We’re excited to debut the Marriott Resort Palm Jumeirah – our first Marriott resort in Dubai. The resort has more than 600 guest rooms, eight restaurants, a kid’s club and a beautiful sandy beach.”
