  • Hilton tops ‘best workplace’ list for largest employers

Global hotel company Hilton has been rated as the top ‘great workplace’ in the ‘super large’ category of Great Places to Work UK.

The category is for employers with more than 1,000 members of staff, and Hilton has 7,646 employees across its 18 brands.

Great Place to Work UK is an employee experience consultancy which releases annual lists of the best workplaces in the country.

The list is based on audits of the employee experience and the practices of organisations across various UK sectors, including hospitality, technology, pharmaceutical, consumer goods, retail and manufacturing.

Last year, Hilton was third in the ‘super large’ category.

Ben Bengougam, Hilton’s senior vice president of HR for EMEA, said: “This past year we have faced challenges never experienced in our 101-year history.

“We have worked collaboratively to identify solutions for remote working, continued engagement for those on furlough and support team members during this period of uncertainty.”

He added: “What was important was trying to understand the needs of every individual and provide the best possible solutions.

“Hilton has always had a strong culture, but the pandemic has brought teams together and amplified the Hilton culture in ways we didn’t know were possible.”

Ben Gautrey, Great Place to Work’s managing director, said: “Developing a high trust culture continues to be a key component to fuelling business performance and creating a strong organisational foundation.

“In 2020 specifically, employees’ feeling of trust within a Best Workplace was on average 10 percentage points higher than non-ranked organisations.”

Companies ranked number one in the large, medium and small categories are The Sovini Group, Tulchan Communications LLP and Ryan, respectively.
